Why your PHP version matters

WordPress, plugins and themes each specify a minimum PHP version. Running an outdated version can slow your site down and create security risks; running too new a version can occasionally break an old plugin.

Changing your PHP version

1

Open MultiPHP Manager in cPanel

Found under the Software section.

2

Select your domain

Tick the checkbox next to the domain you want to change.

3

Choose a PHP version from the dropdown

We recommend the latest stable version your plugins support — usually PHP 8.1 or newer.

4

Click Apply

The change takes effect immediately, no restart required.

After switching

Reload your site and click through a few pages. If something looks broken, switch back and check your theme/plugin changelogs for the PHP version they actually support, or message our support team.
